Old Business:
On September 7th, the Commmunity Firewise Program was presented to the Township Committee by Bardon Smith and Keeney London. Moving forward, a public presentation is being planned at the Community Center. Vera will work with Barden on setting up the program.
On September 24th, Jenn Minervino presented the information on the Senior Safety Programs presented by the Sheriff’s Office. CERT voted to continue running these programs for our residents. It was decided to change the program name to Community Safety Program, so not to limit the participants to one particular group.
Safety coats for the volunteers were discussed. The volunteers were able to try the coats on and agreed on one style that fits all.
On September 20th, a request was sent to our OEM for approval to run the CERT Basic Training Course. Approved by OEM on September 24th during our meeting.
New Business:
Mayor Lisa Chammings – OEM Report.
Fire and EMS Report – EMS 362; Fire 149 (year to date).
Supplies were ordered by OEM for the team. Motion was made not to exceed $700.00.
On October 5th, CERT was asked to assist with parking for a very large funeral service at the Green Township Fire Hall. Thank you to Connie, Barbara, and Donna for your service.
On October 11th, the Stillwater Fall Festival had a great turn out. It was another successful event. Thank you to Carol, Dough, Vince, Barbara, Ilene, John, Donna, and Connie. Two donations were given for all the work being done in our community. One was $10.00, the other was $5.00.
The Family First Aid Kit award winner was Rob Jacoby from the Stillwater Historical Society.
On October 14th, there was a Flu Shot Clinic. CERT volunteers helped with registration and answering safety questions. We also handed out coloring books and pocket first aid kits. Thank you to Ilene for all your help.
On October 18th there was a 5k Run for Debbie. Maureen decided not to have CERT participate due to other pre-existing commitments.
CERT Basic Training Course dates and locations: November 11th, 13th, and 15th will be held at the Stillwater Community Center. November 10th and 14th will be held at the Stillwater Municipal Building.
On November 18th there will be the last Community Safety Program. The topic is Car Safety Devices. It will run from 1p-2p. A signup sheet will be passed around, all are welcome!
On November 22nd, Search & Rescue Training will occur in conjunction with the Ramapo K9 Unit and Hopatcong CERT Team. Maureen is looking into Veteran’s Park in Stillwater. An application has been submitted to Stillwater Recreation Commission for field use approval. Maureen will have to clear it with OEM in case there is snowfall.
A special thank you to HydroLow Fire Protection, Inc. for tonight’s dinner donations.
There will be a review of CERT Volunteer requirements. A motion to accept will be needed. See attached.
A reminder that our November meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 19th due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. This will be our last meeting for 2025, so please try to attend!
On January 28th, 2026 there will be a meeting with Amy Overman from JCP&L. Amy will present the Storm Restoration Process Program: Think Safe, Act Safe, Be Safe. This is a great opportunity to bring family and friends!
