Approval of Minutes

Old Business:
Community Firewise Program: Vera, Bardon Smith, and Keeney London. Moving forward, a public presentation is being planned at the Community Center. No new feedback yet.

Safety coats for the volunteers were discussed. Maureen has placed the order for the safety vests and coats.

Volunteer supplies: Head lamps and safety gloves. Total cost $_______.

New Business:
Welcome new volunteers.

Congratulations to the volunteers who completed the CERT Basic Training Course.

November 10th-15th – CERT Basic Training Course: Very successful, certified 22 new volunteers from Stillwater, Newton, Andover, Sparta, Vernon and Hopatcong. Maureen will be sending an article and pictures of the training course to the local papers.

Special thanks to our Stillwater Fire Chief, Dwane Banghart, for his expertise in teaching Units 5 & 6.

November 16th: Maureen met with Patrick Crow and walked the field and wood line perimeter to discuss and lay out the details for the upcoming training.

November 18th – Community Safety Program – Car Theft Device: Hosted by CERT, sponsored by the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office. It will be held from 1pm-2pm at the Stillwater Community Center. This will be the last program for 2025. The program will begin again in January 2026.

November 22nd: CERT teams from Stillwater, Sparta, and Hopatcong will take part in Search & Rescue Training with the Ramapo Search & Rescue K-9 Unit. Training will be held at Veteran’s Park, beginning at 9am. If anyone has their own compass, please bring it. Following the instructions on the flyer sent to you, please bring your own back[ack and anything else you feel you may need.

October 22nd: CERT Volunteer requirements were handed out and signed by those in attendance.

January 28, 2026: Amy Overman from JCP&L will be presenting “Storm Restoration Process Program: Think Safe. Act Safe. Be Safe.” This will be a great presentation and volunteers are welcome to bring their family and friends. Maureen will see if the Community Center or Fire Hall is available so that the presentation can be offered to all Stillwater residents.

Sussex County CERT IDs: Packets have been sent to the volunteers who completed the CERT Basic Training Course. The packets contain all necessary instructions. The packets must be returned to Maureen, in person. Once received back completed, Maureen will request the IDs be processed.

Reminder: CERT will not be meeting in December 2025.
