STILLWATER TOWNSHIP
CERT
May 27, 2026

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. The flag was saluted and roll call was taken.

Present: Peggy Askew, Tristan Askew, Marcia Bradley, Willie Corbisiero, Suzanna Gerrera, Neil Hubbard, Barbara Kimmich, Carol Kouba, Ken Lauffer, Doug McIntyre, Connie O’Grady, Vince Troiano, John Tsadilas, and Maureen Tsadilas

Minutes: Approval of the April 22, 2026 meeting minutes. A motion was made by Doug McIntyre, seconded by Vince Troiano. Approved with all in favor.

Fire & EMS Report: As of May 25, 2026, within a 65 mile radius of Stillwater, there were 53 fire calls and 119 EMS calls.

OEM Report:
There was no OEM report given at this meeting.

Old Business:
Thank you to Ken and Vince for running drones during the Search & Rescue exercise and to Ken for recording it.

Some comments on the Search & Rescue Training:
Barbara stated she felt communications could have been better, whether in Stillwater CERT or across all CERT units. Better direction was also needed. She suggested focusing on building teamwork within Stillwater CERT.
Neil felt the training focused too much on the dogs. He also stated there was no grid search done. With the radios, they could be heard at the base but couldn’t be heard by each other.

On May 5th, a program on Tick & Sun Safety was given by Juliette Bannister from the Sussex County Health Department.

On June 1st, there wis a home safety presentation scheduled to be presented by Maureen at the Community Center.

All background checks have been done with the exception of 2 CERT members.

New Business:
June 6th is Stillwater Day. CERT will be there until 5pm. Maureen asked if we wanted to use a donated snow cone machine for the day, we would just supply the ice and cups. Peggy made a motion in favor, Doug seconded. All members voted in favor. Maureen will submit the application.

The June CERT meeting has been reschedule for June 17th at 6:30pm with location TBD. A Search & Rescue Drill will take place during this meeting. Maureen is working on the location.

September 20th is Sussex County Day from 11am-4pm. All members voted to participate. Maureen will submit the application.

October 4th is Oktoberfest at the Vass House. Hardwick Township’s Mayor asked if CERT would help direct traffic. All members voted to participate. Maureen has initiated TIMS Training, which is beneficial for the team to take for this type of event.

October 10th is Stillwater’s Fall Fest. All members voted to participate. Applications aren’t currently out to public.

CERT earned $300.00 for participating in Stillwater’s Clean Up Day.

Neil made a motion to purchase a wagon to carry CERT supplies, seconded by Suzanne. Purchase not to exceed $50.00.

Willie made a motion to purchase the necessary yellow safety shirts for the team, seconded by John. Purchase not to exceed $275.00. Maureen is working on a donation to help with the purchase of the safety shirts.

Vince earned this amateur radio license and his remote pilot certification. He is certified to operate drones for our CERT team when needed.

We may need to have media policy forms. Maureen sent her samples out to Lisa to be reviewed. They may possibly have to be sent to the Town’s attorney for review.

There is a Traffic Incident Management Response Training (TIMS) available online. Maureen prepared a How-To informational handout for each member. She explained the website is extremely difficult to maneuver through.
