Bicentennial/Stillwater Day:
Mrs. Tosti recapped what was discussed at the last Bicentennial meeting for any members who were not present. A press release where the Historical Society was interviewed regarding Stillwater Day celebrations was read. Unfortunately, the Recreation Commission’s involvement and contribution was lacking. This led the Recreation Commission’s decision to design a flyer to highlight all events and programs taking place in the afternoon/evening at Veteran’s Park. Mrs. Tosti will email the Commission to review the flyer for approval. A timeline of the day beginning at 1:00 p.m. and ending at the fireworks show was discussed. This gave members a better idea of when certain events can take place. Some events/activities will happen at designated times such as the parade (1:30 p.m.), kick off at Veteran’s Park (2:30 p.m.), Tommy Knucklehead (2:30-3:30 p.m.), and Snake Oil willy Band (between 4:00-5:00 p.m. start time). Most other activities, such as the watermelon eating contest, sack races, and hay bale tossing contest (haybales can be utilized as additional seating for the fireworks display), do not need designated time slot. Although it would be ideal or organization purposes, it may be more beneficial to obtain the most attendees for the activities to read the crowd and announce events and activities that will be best fit the current audience at that time. Announcements for activities can be made during the bands break times.

Mrs. Richardson mentioned that Weis will be donating a $25.00 gift card to purchase watermelons for the contest. It will not cover the entire cost of what is needed for the contest; however, it was suggested that she can request a donation from Shop Rite, Lentini Farms, and Acme (Blairstown). Mrs. Richardson will send a letter to each and report back during our June meeting.

Mrs. Falotico showed the Commission a detailed map she designed with the layout of our field and where each item/vendor will be placed. She requested that Mr. Carovillano verify if the Fire Department will be filling the dunk tank as this affects where the dunk tank will be placed. She will update the map as needed. Last year, our last meeting was held at Veteran’s to discuss the
layout. It got a little confusing and not all members agreed on where each vendor should be located. The map gave members the opportunity to clearly visualize the set up so they will be better prepared for set up and also give their input/suggestions on placement. If any changes need to be made, the map can be updated and sent to members for referral.

Mrs. DiBattista will be assisting with face painting and temporary tattoos. We have some tattoos on hand from previous events, but Mrs. DiBattista will be ordering additional tattoos to ensure we have enough.

Mrs. Tosti and Mrs. Falotico reviewed all confirmed food and regular vendors. Mrs. Falotico mentioned a discrepancy upon food vendors just so the Recreation Commission is aware. It was handled professionally.

Approval was needed to reserve the dunk tank from a supplier in Andover since Tri-State Rentals did not have any. Mrs. Tosti made a motion to reserve the dunk tank from a supplier in Andover, seconded by Mrs. Richardson.

Roll Call Vote: Mrs. Minervino, yes, Mrs. Falotico, yes, Mrs. DiBattista, yes, Mrs. Richardson, yes, Mrs. Tosti, yes

Purchasing a slushie machine was discussed, however, members will research pricing and report during our June meeting. Unfortunately, after a brief search, it appears most affordable machine options simply made the slushie, but did not keep them cold.

Miss Stillwater:
Thus far there are 12 Little Miss, 6 Little Mister, 5 Junior Miss, 2 Junior Mister, and 1 Miss Stillwater.

The requested Sugar Shack gift cards are pending. There are two bios from the judges thus far. The flowers (one dozen for the winner, half dozen for the runner up, and single roses for the rest of the contestants) goody bags, and gifts have been ordered. Tootsie pop bouquets will be made for the boys. Single chocolate roses that are wrapped in colorful foil were also considered. Mrs. Minervino will check into both options. Mrs. Richardson and Mrs. DiBattista offered to assist Mrs. Minervino with the flowers. The only extension to application deadlines will be for Miss Stillwater since there is only one applicant.

Forest Bathing:
The field use application has been received from Leona for Forest Bathing. Mrs. Minervino made a motion to approve the application, however, we will not be promoting or advertising the event due to the fee to attend, seconded by Mrs. Tosti.

Roll Call Vote: Mrs. Minervino, yes, Mrs. Falotico, yes, Mrs. DiBattista, yes, Mrs. Richardson, yes, Mrs. Tosti, yes

Adjournment:
Mrs. Tosti made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:09 p.m., seconded by Mrs. Richardson. A vote was taken, and all were in favor.

Respectfully Submitted,
Danielle Wunder, Secretary
