STILLWATER TOWNSHIP ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT

June 24, 2024@ 7:30 pm

A REGULAR MEETING of the Stillwater Township Zoning Board of Adjustment was held on the above date and time. The meeting was called to order in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act. The flag was saluted, and roll call taken.

MEMBERS PRESENT:

Mr. Lippencott, Mrs. Draghi, Mr. Wykoff, Mrs. Mountford, Mr. Kochenthal, Mr. Doolittle

MEMBERS ABSENT: Mr. van der Haeghen

ALSO PRESENT: William Haggerty, Esq., Joe Vuich, Engineer, Deputy Mayor, Vera Rumsey

SWEARING IN OF BOARD MEMEBERS: N/A

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: May 20, 2024

Mr. Wykoff made the motion to approve the May 2024 minutes, seconded by Mrs. Mountford.

Mrs. Mountford made the motion to approve the above Resolution, seconded by Mr. Doolittle.

OLD/NEW BUSINESS: See below

EXECUTIVE SESSION: None

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC: The session was opened to the public at 7:37pm.

Mr. Dimitri Gatanas spoke regarding his appeal of a Zoning Board violation letter. Mr. Haggerty advised Mr. Gatanas that he needs to file an application which outlines the clear intention of the use of his property at 901 Stillwater Road. He advised that site plan approval would also be required. Mr. Vuich also gave guidance to Mr. Gatanas on how to move forward with the application he will be filing. Discussion was held by all (for approximately 45 minutes) regarding the best scenario to move forward so that Mr. Gatanas can apply for proper use of his property.

Deputy Mayor Rumsey spoke to clarify and advise Mr. Gatanas that if he plans on renting the property, he must comply with the Township ordinances as well as have an inspection by the fire marshal and a smoke detector test.

Michelle Vosper, as a member of the Stillwater Historical Society spoke on behalf the Mr. Gatanas. The Historical Society has limited space for activities, and she would like to be able to use the space at the church if needed.

Stacey Michelman also spoke in support of Mr. Gatanas holding AA Meetings and inquired if he could continue doing so while his application is being processed.

Debra Drum as the President of the Historical Society also advised that they need more space for their events and would like to use the church if needed.

COMMITTEE LIAISON REPORT:

The Committee Liaison report was provided to the Board by Deputy Mayor, Vera Rumsey.

The Sheriff’s Department will be hosting an event at the Community Center on June 25th at 1:00 on Identity Theft. All are welcome. Various events are also listed on the Center’s Facebook page.

The Town is still waiting for State Guidelines regarding foreclosures. Four out of five of the tax sale foreclosures have been sold.

The new fire truck arrived on Friday 6/21/24 and will be put into service upon inspection.

ADJOURNMENT: With there being no further business, at 8:35pm a motion was made to adjourn the meeting. With a voice vote, all were in favor.
