For Stillwater Day, thank you to Tristan, Doug, Vince, Susanne, Connie, Carol, Ken, and John who helped prior to and the day of the event. 73 people stopped by the CERT table to play the Spin and Win game. Lots of conversation and informational papers handed out! Unfortunately, after paying for the rental of the generator, we earned less than $10.00 on snow cone sales. Regardless, it was a ton of fun!
A special thank you to Ken for creating our new CERT video production. It was a huge help when visiting other originations when explaining what CERT is all about.
The next CERT Community Service Program has been moved from June 9th to July 7th. The program will cover safety in/around the home. It’ll still be from 1p-2p at the Stillwater Community Center.
New wagon was ordered and arrived in time to be used for Stillwater Day. It was a huge help with transporting items to the CERT table. Thank you to Tammy!
Maureen secured a $100.00 donation. It will be used to purchase our required yellow shirts. It did not exceed the amount voted on at our May meeting. Shirts will be ready to be picked up for the June meeting.
CPR & First Aid Course that was scheduled for June 16th and June 19th has been canceled due to lack of registrations. It will be offered to the community again in September.
On June 18th, Hopatcong CERT will be hosting Juliette Banister from the Sussex County Health Department. She will be giving a presentation on Tick & Sun Safety at 7pm at the Hopatcong Senior Center. If you missed the presentation last month, it’s a great chance to see it!
On May 29th Maureen submitted the application and essay to the Stop the Bleed Grant Program. We’ll be notified in June.
Maureen has been working with John Dickson from the Fire Academy about setting up the TIMS Training Course. On May 27th, the online instruction for taking the course was handed out to all volunteers, although the online course is difficult to maneuver though. Maureen is hoping to hear back from John soon about classroom training.
On June 14th, Michelle and Maureen walked Michelle’s property and mapped out the location for our next drill site. Due to ash tree removal starting this week, the drill will be moved to earlier in July. Maureen requested the team come up with a date that works for all.
On June 11th, Barbara sent a message to Maureen from Jim Williams at the Franklin Fire Department. They have overstock in OEM supplies from FEMA. Thank you for your help and support. Maureen passed the information onto our OEM.
Next regular CERT meeting will be held on July 22nd at 7pm.
Maureen will be out of state from June 21st through June 28th.
Adjournment:
Respectfully submitted,
Maureen Tsadilas
CERT Program Coordinator
