Dear Park Patron,
Swartswood swimming area is CLOSED
NJDEP suspects and is testing for Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) in the lake. People, pets, and livestock should avoid contact and swallowing water. Avoid swimming, wading, and watersports. Fish caught in this waterbody should not be eaten.
What are HABs?
• Freshwater Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs), in rivers, streams or lakes, are caused by bacteria
• High temperatures and nutrient levels, and calm water cause dense blooms
• Blooms can produce toxins that endanger humans, pets, livestock, and wildlife and can cause an allergic skin reaction
